Meet Jamie Sabot of Batty’s Bath ~

Jamie’s love for eco-friendly, handmade bath and body products is clear in her extensive collection of affordable luxuries at Batty’s Bath! Her London, Ontario-based shop is all about fair-trade natural ingredients, recycled and repurposed packaging, sustainable business practices and old-world soap making practices.

Metropolis Soap Co. is a Brooklyn-based handmade soap company making 100% vegan and cruelty-free products that smell great and feel clean! In their quest for soapy world domination, Metropolis makes artisan soaps, body butters, lip balms, perfume oils, bath soaks and bubbles, facial care products and more.

Megan at Metropolis Soap Co. was sweet enough to send a lovely bar of soap for me to check out: The Spicy Citrus Gang. It’s a 4 oz. blend of saponified oils (sunflower, coconut, palm kernel, rice bran and shea butter) and essential oils. The scent is a bright, sweet orange with spicy cinnamon and clove notes. Besides smelling wonderful and looking mighty pretty on the bathroom counter, this bar of soap has really fun packaging. I love Metropolis’ signature retro comic book look ~ I think any of their products (especially the soap samplers) would make a great gift for guys or gals!

Beecology is an amazing company on so many levels. For starters, they handcraft awesome bath and body products from high-quality, natural ingredients. They started off six years ago by keeping a beehive on the Rzepka family farm. Their product line includes all-natural body washes, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners, bar soaps, lip balms and more. They’re also paraben free!

Beecology also does good by donating a portion of net profits to charity through SweetYear.org.

I had a chance to try samples of Beecology’s Honey & Botanical Sulfate-Free Shampoo, Repair Your Hair Naturally Conditioner and Moisturizing Grapefruit & Lemongrass Body Wash.

I think it’s safe to say that most of us aren’t accustomed to using shampoos that don’t contain sulfates, so Beecology’s formula was a real treat. It smells amazingly natural, and it does a fabulous job getting hair clean. It doesn’t lather quite as much as other shampoos but that doesn’t diminish its cleaning power. The shampoo also has extracts of nettle, yarrow and chamomile along with honey and wheat protein.

The conditioner is creamy but not overly heavy, containing propolis extract and honey. It leaves hair silky and lustrous – how can you beat that?

The body wash has, without a doubt, the most sublime, natural lemongrass fragrance I’ve ever smelled in a bath product! Paired with the grapefruit, the body wash is refreshing and moisturizing. Delightful!
